Nusa
Dua Overview
Nusa Dua
was designed with luxury in mind. Bali's premier resort location
and the internationally acclaimed hotels that are located
here attract visitors from all over the world. Most hotels
are first class and above, and the facilities that they all
offer for both individuals as well as families make this one
of Bali's best holiday resort areas. Numerious five star chain
hotels line the beautiful sandy beaches which offer excellent
swimming in a protected lagoon. Some resorts have private
beaches; however, most are accessible.
The most recent of Bali's tourist centers, Nusa Dua - located
on the southern-most tip, is quite unlike anything else in
Bali. A government run dreamland of coconut palms, five-star
hotels and perfect beaches. A great place to relax and be
pampered, but this is a long way from Balinese village life.
The Nusa Dua tourist resort is part of the Bukit Peninsula
in Southern Bali. Some of the most beautiful and luxurious
hotels are found here. The resort is known for its clean waters.
The surf is gentle along the northern side of the Peninsula,
bigger along the south. The most convenient form of transportation
to and from Nusa Dua is by taxi.
In the late 1960's Nusa Dua was an obscure strip of coast
on Bali's southern Bukit Peninsula, with striking white sand
beaches and two peninsular islets. Nusa Dua means "two
islands". Less developed than Bali, Lombok also has better
beaches, a bigger volcano and a greater variety of landscapes.
Tourism is less intrusive than it is on Bali, but the flip-side
is that the people of Lombok are less blasé about tourists:
in some places you might find the residents quite resentful
of the the new wave of tourism. All of this is set to change,
however, as the growing hordes of those who've 'done Bali'
strike out for fresh fields. |
